External connections¶
Target Audience: Administrators
Introduction¶
The External connections section shows how a Payway account is linked to identities outside Payway — both external IDs (identity mappings set through the API) and social logins (external sign-in providers the customer has connected). Open it from a customer account in PAP (Customer Service): the left-hand menu has an "External connections" entry, with two sub-pages — Identity mappings and Social logins.
Identity mappings (External IDs)¶
Identity Mappings (also called External ID's) link a Payway account to a third-party representation of that account. It works in somewhat similar ways to a customer number — the link between two different accounts — but Identity Mappings are not used automatically nor bound to a specific subscription system.

- Add — Identity Mappings cannot currently be configured via PAP; they are configured through our API.
Social logins¶
Social logins show which external sign-in providers (Google, Microsoft, Apple) the organisation offers and which the account has connected. This view is read-only — connecting and disconnecting a provider is done by the customer on their own pages.

- How social login works for integrators: Sign in with an external provider.
