Payment periods

Introduction

Payment periods are the backbone of a subscription in Payway. They decide whether a subscription should recur, what the cost of the subscription should be, as well as how long the subscription should keep going for.

All payment periods have the same foundation, but there are some key differences between package and campaign periods that are important to know:

Setting up a package period

In order to set up a package payment period in Payway, you can navigate either to the Package overview, or to a specific package.

There, you will find a "Edit payment options" button, leading you to a view looking something like this:

Once there, you can set up your payment periods. The payment period being created in the example above, would create an Adyen - Card subscription period, that would charge the customer $350 every 3 months.

Package periods explained

Column Description
Purchase type Decides if the subscription should be limited, recurring or single
Period type Decides if the customer should be charged monthly, weekly, daily, or yearly
Length Decides how many period types the subscription should keep going for
Payment method Decides the payment method of the subscription
Type Describes the payment method in more detail, if applicable
Enabled Decides if the period should be available in the PPF
Price Decides the cost of each consecutive period of the subscription

Setting up a campaign period

In order to set up a campaign payment period in Payway, you can navigate either to the Campaign overview, or to a specific campaign. There, you will find a "Edit payment options" button, leading you to a view looking something like this:

The payment period being created in the example above, would create an Adyen - Card subscription period, charge the customer once, then give access to the user for a consecutive period of 3 months.

The payment period being created in the example above, would create an Adyen - Card subscription period, charge the customer once every month for 3 consecutive months, then either transition or terminate depending on the campaign setup.

Column Description
Period type The customer will either be charged in days, weeks, or months
Length Decides the total length of access for the current campaign
Payment method Decides the payment method of the subscription
Type Describes the payment method in more detail, if applicable
Enabled Decides if the period should be available in the PPF
Price Decides the total cost of the subscription for the current campaign
